The contract for my iphone 3GS will be expiring in October. That’s quite a long time away, but with my gadget obsessed mind I’m already pondering to myself what phone I’ll eventually upgrade to. I’m sure there are more pressing issues in my life but I prefer to spend time thinking of things that don’t really matter.
I love my 3GS and its been of great service to me, but one thing that bugs me and probably alot of other people is the short-term battery life. To charge my phone every evening after-work is slowly becoming normal, and I need to get out of this state of mind and remember the good old days of when a Nokia 3210 would last an entire week. Of course the luxuries of a colour screen and WI-FI take up more power than playing a game of snake, but the battery should still be able to last longer than a day.

Another thing I hope Apple will take a look at is a fresh-approach to the menu screen. To be frank I’m bored of the icons, I want something else, and for me to upgrade to another iphone Apple will have to drag something magical out of the hat. Maybe I should just look at another manufacturer…Maybe I should look at a HTC phone or a Blackberry?
My girlfriend recently got herself a Blackberry Torch, and after I had a quick play I was feeling very impressed. The interface isn’t quite as slick and smooth as the iphone, but the integrated messaging and the overall suaveness made this a very nice piece of kit . Check out her endless boasting of it here. If there is a new Blackberry released in a few months (which I’m sure there will) would I be interested? Hell yes.
All I want is something to feed my gadget-hungry cravings, and that is something Apple are always great at doing. However if another company want to come in and punch me in the face, unzip my trousers and grab my hard-earned money, I’m all for it.
I’ve done too much typing for a Sunday. Its time to prepare myself for the Eastenders Omnibus.
