I have a beach holiday coming up, and I’m eager to look semi-decent for the inevitable topless photos of me sun-bathing.
I’ve looked at various websites that recommend healthy lunches to eat whilst in the office, but none of them really work for me.
Whilst a healthy Sandwich for lunch sounds like an obvious option, I’m afraid its just a no-go for me. After just over 2 decades of sandwiches I find them extremely boring. Actually I think even when I was a kid I found them boring, but back then I had no choice. Now I’m an adult and I do have choice, I choose never to eat sandwiches ever again.
I could also try eating a fresh healthy salad, but on their own I also find them boring. I only really like salads when they’re inside hamburgers, which I guess are not recommended for everyday eating. Plus I don’t like the thought of depriving rabbits from their natural food. Vegetarians please take note.
Soup is a very healthy option, but sadly it rhymes with puke. And not only does it sound like puke, it looks like puke as well.
Then there is Houmous. My girlfriend loves houmous, she’d have it everyday if she could. But there’s something about it that puts me off. Maybe its just the strange colour, as grey/white is typically the colour of wallpaper paste and mayonnaise.
Pasta with tomato is a good choice, but I really don’t have the time to make it the night before work. I spend most of my life in an office, and the thought of spending my free-time preparing food for the office makes me sad. I could buy a tub of ready-to-eat pasta from the local supermarket, but they’re over-priced and full of salt.
Despite all of this negativity though, there is one lunch that actually delivers both taste and good health; Nairns Oakcakes. Whilst most foods rely on salt or sugar for flavour, the people of Nairns have used the natural favours of Oats to make these extremely edible. I highly recommend you check these out, and throw in a banana and a few clementines and you have yourself a healthy and cheap office diet.
After your hard day at work you can then treat yourself to a nice and not necessarily healthy dinner. An unhealthy lunch and dinner is unacceptable, but a nice lunch and an unhealthy dinner is perfectly fine. It’s all a part of lifes balance.
