Waking up to the rain isn’t very nice, especially when some of your job involves working outside. But in these dull times, at least I can look back fondly on a good weekend.
Friday was Marcus’s birthday, so we went for a pub crawl up Highbury & Islington. We didn’t actually end up at that many bars, as some people in the group were drinking slowly (there’s one particular guy in the group who’s so cheap he’ll drink his beer as slowly as possible to make it last longer. And no he is not struggling to make ends meet, hes just cheap.)
Anyway we ended the night in a Cuban bar, which I thought was Mexican. I also wasn’t sure which drink to buy, so I ordered a Vodka and Redbull, which I was alarmed to see came in a pint glass. I’m not sure how many spoonfuls of sugar it contained, but I’m sure it played a big part in keeping me awake on the nightbus home.
On Saturday I went out with Mirel to an Italian restaurant. It was a nice day out, but the restaurant was bad. Why was it bad? Well I had Spaghetti with tomato sauce, which is probably the easiest dish a chef would ever have to make. However I obviously had a dodgy chef as mine was just greasy and not very pleasant to eat. I’m no cook but I just can’t work out how you can get something so simple so wrong. On a plus note though the Pineapple juice with a slice of lemon was very nice.
Mirel’s pizza was also nice, though she didn’t quite get what she asked for. She wanted a pizza with roasted vegetables, except all she got was olives, and I guess you can’t really call an olive a roasted vegetable. Oh well, I guess we won’t be going back there again.
Sunday was Mother’s day, and my brother and his girlfriend came round with baby Mia. We had a big buffa of chicken and pizza followed by some ice cream. It’s fair to say that by the end of the weekend I felt very fat, though I guess that’s better than feeling hungry.
Baby Mia is growing up fast, her first birthday is quickly approaching, as is her naming ceremony. We are all planning a big party which means I’ll get to eat even more pizza and chicken. All is good in my world.
