It’s always nice when something breaks you from your usual routine in the morning. Most days I drive to work and I’ll get the same old traffic jams with the same old road rage, and I’ll drive down the same old roads past the same old buildings.
A few days ago though something slightly strange happened. I was driving to work with my window slightly open by an inch or so, when in the corner of my eye I noticed something shoot past me. I thought it was a bird flying past my car, until I looked to the left of me, and was startled to find a big black Butterfly. I hadn’t seen one so large before and I couldn’t believe it got through the small gap in the window.
The butterfly flew straight into my open glovebox, it was probably scared of me and wondered how on earth it ended up in my car. The thing is I was quite scared of it as well, I really didn’t want it to suddenly fly into my face whilst I was driving!
Hiding out of of sight in the corner of the glovebox amongst my boxes of CDs, I peeked round to make sure it was still there, careful not to crash into the car in front, and it just seemed to be staring back at me, completely motionless.
I opened the windows in my car all the way down, hoping the butterfly would find it’s own way out, but it stayed still. I really didn’t want to force it to move, but I didnt want to leave it in my car all day either.
As I drive around the corner from my workplace, to my relief the butterfly finally flew out of my car. When I think back, I wonder to myself that maybe this wasn’t an accident, and that maybe the butterfly was just hitching a ride? Oh well, who knows, I just thought this was a nice story to share.
