Easy Money

Earlier I went to the office kitchen to fill up my bottle, and I couldn’t help but notice the vending machine had 30p credit. This machine had previously stolen £1 from me so I felt it owed me something back.

I had a quick look around but there was nobody nearby. Someone had obviously purchased something and forgot to press the button to take their change, so I figured I might as well claim it and pressed the change button.

As soon as I heard the change release from the machine I looked around again just incase the owner of the money came back. But they never did and now the money is sitting in my wallet, and at some point this week will probably go back into the same machine

For some reason though I feel quite dirty and cheap, though it’s not like I picked it up from the floor. A few years ago I was walking around central London and I found a pound coin on the floor, I felt cheap and I also wondered why I had the good fortune of finding spare change and a homeless person didn’t.

I suppose I could have given it to a homeless person, but ah well.
