There’s a guy in my office, I think he’s a taxi driver in his spare-time, and he’s very talkative, but not in an annoying way. You get some talkative people who go on and on for hours about nothing but this guy was different, I guess being a taxi driver gives him lots to talk about. Anyway the only issue i have with him is he thinks my name is Chris. He’s been calling me Chris for the past year so its too late to correct him, and the worst thing is I don’t know his name either. I know one of the first things you should learn in conversation is the name of who you’re talking to but I guess my social skills are not up to scratch.
I’ve decided this can’t go on, every-time he calls me Chris I feel like a fraud. I have to wonder to myself, do I go through all the trouble of telling him my real name and explaining that I never corrected him because I didn’t really care enough to, or do I just change my name to Chris? Changing my name might be easier.
