There was once upon a time when i thought I was immune to illness. Everyone around me would be sneezing and coughing and I’d sit back and give kudos to my white blood cells for a job well done. Now though it seems they’ve taken the week off as I’ve had a cold and it doesn’t look like shifting.
To cheer myself up I thought I’d make some money by selling a few things on eBay. I sold 2 games to this guy who lives in Birmingham, but he’s yet to pay me and has a 0% positive feedback score, so I have a good feeling he’s going to let me down. I don’t understand why someone would bid for something without the intention of paying unless it was just to annoy the seller, so I can’t help but feel offended by this. Luckily I’ve found the guy on Facebook, so if he does refuse to pay I could find a way to scare him, if it doesn’t make me look too weird.
Anyhow last night whilst thinking of scare tactics I watched 2 films, Dredd and 25th Hour. I watched 25th Hour just for Edward Norton as I’ve yet to see him in a bad film (except for maybe The Italian Job, though I presume he just needed the money). This was also the first film I’ve seen that was directed by Spike Lee. Spike is someone who I’ve only read about in the newspapers, they seem to portray him as a miserable black guy who’s anti-white, but after watching 25th Hour I’d beg to differ. There’s a memorable scene where Edward Norton is talking to himself in the mirror, and laying into every race and stereotype you can think of, including his own. I guess it’s too easy to judge someone by what some cheap journalist may write about them, which is a shame as its probably why I’ve missed out on this great film for so long.
This probably has one of the greatest endings to a film I’ve ever seen, which surprised me as I knew what was going to happen, the synopsis told me. But it was so well filmed that I’m looking forward to the next Spike Lee film, whatever that may be.
