Today is a Good Day

Well it seems I have already broken one of my New Year Resolutions as I’ve hardly blogged at all this year. But still, today is a good day, because the Sun is out, the air is fresh, my stomach is full, and this is my last day of work before I enjoy a whole week of annual leave.

What do I plan on doing on my week off? I am not sure, though I would like to finish off a few drawings I’ve been working on, and I need to catch up on sleep, and I will no doubt find some time for computer games as well. There is always time for computer games 🙂

There is also the small matter of getting my car MOTed, and a 30th birthday party to attend tomorrow night, though before that I will be seeing Het and Will who have just had a baby boy together. I am no good with babies, and will no doubt flinch when asked if I’d like to hold him, but maybe I’ll surprise myself and be brave. Maybe I’ll even change his nappy! Or maybe not…

This week Mirel took me to my first ever Vegan potluck. If you’re not sure what it is, well it’s when everybody turns up with food they’ve made, which could be anything from chocolate cakes to a cheeseless pizza (which tastes better than you might think). You then grab a plate and help yourself to all the food on offer.
It’s organised by a man who calls himself the Fat Gay Vegan, who despite being in charge of the event and being very popular in the Vegan world, seems to be down to earth and a nice guy.
Over 100 people attended this event, which was their highest ever attendance. It seems the Vegan community is expanding, are you scared?

Oh yeah and earlier in the week I got my haircut by a Swedish man called Rasmus, who is officially the 17th best hairdresser in Sweden. I was very pleased with the outcome and I felt very honoured. Though I am actually quite embarrassed that the Swedish can speak better English than we do. But then again, I wonder if I learnt Swedish then maybe I’d speak it better than they do?

On a final note, last night I watched Skyfall for the second time. I first watched it at the cinema after all the hype had convinced me to go, but I was disappointed in what I saw, and my opinion after a second viewing hasn’t changed. I found some of the films dialogue to be quite frustrating and the new Q was too young.

However most of all I disliked the pacing, where the Director just seemed to have clamped a few large action scenes together with a few slow scenes in between, with no thought as to wherever or not it would all fit together. I am also not liking this trend of villains who, just like Bane and The Joker from the recent Batman films, can plan their attacks so precisely and yet so far in the future. I know it’s only a film but when they take themselves so seriously it would be nice of they were more believable.

I am also a big fan of Daniel Craig, but I wonder if we’ll ever see him play James Bond at his peak. In Casino Royale he was young and reckless, in Quantum he was angry and reckless and in Skyfall he was ageing but slightly less reckless. I hope in the next film he’ll be more cool and collected.

Anyway that’s enough typing for now, I will hopefully write another entry very soon…
