24 in London is Great, Apart From a Few Things…

I am quite enjoying the series of 24 set in London, but there are a couple of things that bug me. First of all I wonder to myself why the cast hired English actors to play Americans when they clearly cannot get the accent right. It just cheapens the show and I wonder how a show with a budget of millions can make such a misstep.

2nd is you can really tell an American wrote the dialogue because I don’t think English gangsters say “Bloody hell!”. It reminds me of Oceans 11 when said Don Cheadle said every English soundbite you could think of. “Crikey!” Is not a word used by anyone.

3rd of all, and this isn’t really a criticism but more of a ‘my brain isn’t ready for this’, is that I find it strange hearing Jack Bauer say the word “pub”. It’s like those YouTube videos where pet owners try and get their dogs to speak English. I can understand what they are saying but my brain can’t quite apprehend it.
