I recently viewed the Freud exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery. It was interesting to see so much of his work preserved; from colourful scribbles as a kid to the complex etches he made as an elderly person. Even bits that I presumed he thought were private such as sketchbooks were on display.
If ghosts were real (yes, that’s a big if) and Freud spent an evening floating around the exhibition, I wonder if he would see it as an invasion of privacy. Personally, if I was Freud I would see it as a GDPR breach, and if I was the gallery I would hire a good lawyer.
